Josie Maran Watercolor Eyeshadow Review

josie maran reviewJosie Maran is a higher end brand I always saw in Sephora but never tried. Recently I got the Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow. I was drawn to this product by the uniqueness of it. I also love how the product works.

From the website:
This refreshing, pigment-packed liquid shadow makes eyes look and feel more hydrated. It has two layers: the first delivers fresh coconut water, and the second provides a layer of argan-infused pigments to give eyes a more youthful appearance and minimize the appearance of fine lines.

Pros:

*Feels lightweight on the eyes.

*Beautiful color.

rio de rose gold

*Lasts all day.

*Can be used as a base for other eyeshadows or on its own.

*Love the packaging. The glass bottle is so unique and the applicator is light to the touch when applying it.

Cons:

*The pigment and coconut water separate frequently and  I have to shake it up before every use.

Overall the product is simply lovely. I love how lightweight the product feels on my eyes and combined with the long lasting wear of the product it makes it my new go to eyeshadow. Here is how great the color looks on the skin.

Lush: Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask

lush fresh face mask

For those of you who are not familiar with Lush it is a handmade cosmetics and skincare store. They have anything you could want and then some! Many of their products are packaged in black pots, like above. When you have five empty pots they can be turned in for a free fresh face mask. As of now I only have three empty posts; so once this mask is empty and I have one more I will be able to turn them all in for a FREE one!

On the Lush website it is said to have these features.

  • Gentle enough for everyone: Catastrophe is one of our best-selling masks because it’s gentle on all skin types.
  • Ingredients: Deep-cleansing, nutrient-rich blueberries are packed with vitamins, and blended into calamine, rose absolute and chamomile blue oil to soothe redness, irritation and cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural oils.
  • Calm catastrophes: We use calamine powder for its calming and soothing effect. Use often for a smart skincare routine.

I have oily skin but with the winter in full swing I find that my cheeks have been drier and chapped. I chose this mask because of the calming effects it has to smooth my winter skin.

Lush Face Mask

Pro’s

  1. I love the smell of this mask. It smells lightly of blueberries and chamomile. The fragrance is not overly ‘in your face’ which is good since the mask is on your face!
  2. I really liked how thick the mask was and hour I could actually see pieces of real blueberries in it.
  3. While the mask was on my face I felt a light soothing sensation. Specifically around my nose where I have dry skin.
  4. The mask left my skin extremely soft after taking it off.

Con’s

  1. The mask was slightly watery in the bottom which made it looked separated.
  2. Mask became flaky after drying and due to this the mask was messy to remove.

Recommendations for Use

Before using the product you should mix the ingredients together to combine all the ingredients from the pot sitting in your fridge.

When using the product I would apply it to a damp face and let it sit for about 5 minutes. As the mask gets drier and drier remove before the flakes disperse everywhere.

When taking the mask off do so in a circular motion with warm water. Start at the bottom of your face and move your way up. Make sure your face is leaning over the sink to not get pieces on the floor.

Overall

Even though the mask flaked and was harder to removed once dry the lasting effects of the mask were worth it. Even days after wearing the mask I could feel that my face was soft and that my moisturizer absorbed well into my skin.

The Body Shop Haul #2

the-body-shop-haul
As I mentioned in my Weekend Happenings post, I went to The Body Shop on Sunday and took part in their amazing deal of buy three products and get three free.

These are all products I have never tried and have been wanting to test out and see if I like.

Vitamin E

Lately I have been loving The Body Shop’e Vitamin E line! I decided to try out two more products from this line.

First, I got the Vitamin E Moisturizer Lotion. I really like the consistency of this moisturizer to wear during the day under my makeup. A bonus is that it has SPF 15 in it, which is perfect for the summer.

Also, using the moisturizer the past couple of days, I really like that it doesn’t make my face look or feel oily.

Second, I decided to try out the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. I tend to use toner sparingly because everything I have used in the past dried out my face. But when I saw that this was a hydrating toner I wanted to give it a try.

I have used it three nights in a row, so far, and it has yet to make my skin feel overly dry or tight like other toners have in the past.

Face MaskWith summer in full swing I find myself wanting to do more face masks.

I picked up the 3 in 1 Scrub Mask that is Honey and Oat.

I have never tried it, but the description below looks promising!

This three-in-one face mask cleanses, polishes and moisturizes normal to dry skin.

  • Gently removes dead skin cells
  • Smoothes and refines
  • Moisturises and conditions

Below you can see the creamy consistency of the mask.

Honey Oat Face Mask

The next two items I got are from their Mango scented line. This is such a fresh, clean scent that is perfect for the summer. I cannot get enough of it!!

I got a body scrub to use in the shower and a sorbet to moisturize with after a shower.

Body Scrub

Typically I am not a fam of shower body scrubs. So many times the product holding the exfoliant is thin and runny. That can be frustrating, because you are essentially just scrubbing your body with the exfoliator but not getting clean or transferring the scent of the product onto your skin.

I love how this body scrub is not like that at all! It is thick and the mango scent transfers onto my skin and is long lasting.

It is also oil based to help nourish the skin with salt grains and organic sugar to exfoliate.

Sorbet Sample

The mango sorbet is nothing like I have. The ‘lotion’ is designed to moisturize and absorb instantly into your skin. It is absolutely perfect for summer because it leaves no residue behind that leaves your skin clammy feeling.

It contains Organic aloe, which is perfect to revitalize your skin after being in the sun. Also, if you put it in the fridge it feels amazing to apply after being out in the heat!

Maca Root Moisturizer

The last product I got was for Paul. He needed a daytime moisturizer that was oil free and light weight.

I felt that this would be perfect for him based on the description:

Hydrate his skin while reducing shine in his T-zone with oil-control technology in a lightweight, targeted daily moisturizer.

How it works:

  •       Peruvian maca root and creatine energize and help boost skin vitality.
  •      Community Trade Brazil nut oil moisturizes and softens skin.
  •      Matrix technology releases actives throughout the day to provide long-term shine control, while bamboo stem extract is an absorbent powder that helps mattify skin

He has used it a few times already and is really enjoying it!

Influenster #SurfsUpVoxBox

VoxBox

Influenster VoxBox

I was lucky enough to be chosen by Influenster to receive their Surfs Up VoxBox!

If you have never heard of Influenster before it is really cool. It’s a website that allows people to influence others by writing reviews on products you use. These products can be anything from a bike to an eye shadow.

The more reviews you write the more influence you have. Thus, having influence gives you the opportunity to enter in to receive a VoxBox. A VoxBox is what is shown above. It is a free box of goodies that they send to you to try and then review on their site.

What is great is that anyone can join! If you want to be an influenster click here.

Surfs Up

Vox Box How To

The VoxBox I received was Surfs Up. In every box you receive a card which indicates all that is inside and how to go online and let Influenster know you received it. The card lets you know a little bit about each product as well.

They also have social media ‘parties’ where you can talk to others about the products.

Coupon: Jamba Juice Smoothie Kit

Jamba Smoothie

The fist item in my box are coupons to receive one free Jamba smoothie bag and $1 dollar off of another Jama bag. I am so excited to try this out!!

First Aid Shot Therapy

First Aid Therapy Shot

I am really intrigued by the concept of this pain reliever shot. It looks like it would work quicker than a pain reliever pill. I like the simplicity of it. I have yet to try it but have put it in my car’s medical kit.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun

Hawaiian Tropic After Sun

I am most excited about receiving this in the box! A lot of after sun products I have tried leave my skin feeling sticky. I am always on the lookout for something better that hydrates and helps keep my tan lasting longer.

What is different about this is that it is not only a gel but a lotion. I believe that is why it is supposed to not feel sticky after using it.

I have used this twice so far, after going to the pool. I love the consistency of the product and that it absorbs quickly into my skin!

SinfulColors Professional Nail Polish

Sinful Colors Nail Polish

When I first saw that I had received a polish I was really excited! The color as well is a nice blue. I have an addiction to nail polish and this was a brand I had never tried. Sadly though, I did not like this polish.

The consistency of the polish was so thick that it did not dry well at all. Even an hour after painting my nails I would touch my nail and it would smudge and show the finger print. This was really frustrating.

Other polishes by this brand might not have the same result, but with the polish I got and its formula it did not work well.

Covergirl Bombshell Curvaceous Mascara

Bombshell Mascara

The final product in my box is a mascara. It is always fun to try a new mascara, especially as one as different as this.

The wand is double the size of any ‘normal mascara wand I have used before. This is due to the fact that there are two ends in which you can use two different types of wands to apply the product.

Bombshell #1

Bombshell #2

The wand on the left, #1, is to volumize and curl the lashes.

The wand on the right, #2, is to intensify the look.

This concept of two wand heads is so unique. For an everyday look, I tend to use two different mascaras, by layering them, so why not get the same look but have them be in one wand!?

For traveling, I think this would be a great mascara!

The Importance of a Nightly Skincare Regime

The Importance of a Nightly Skincare Regime

Since revamping my skincare products and regime I have seen a tremendous improvement in my skin!

1. Be Consistent: Consistently is key! By doing the same routine every night it really allows your skin to get used to the products you are using and for the products to work the way they advertise. If you are just starting out with a new skincare routine give each product at least a month before changing things up!

2. Find Products that Work for YOU: What you put on your skin is so important. Be careful!

Know your skin type! This is so beneficial in picking products that will work for your problem areas or enhance great things about your skin. If you are unsure about what type of skin you have HERE is a survey to help you know more.

Do your research! For every product you find there are at least 100 reviews online. Read the reviews and see how people like the products. Ask friends and family you know what works for them as well.

Ask for samples! Samples are essential when purchasing new products. By testing out a new cream, face wash, or etc. you will know immediately if it irritates your skin. I cannot tell you how many times this has helped me!

3. Always Remove Your Makeup: This is a tip I am sure everyone has heard before but it must be done!! I know it is easy to get in a rut and not fully remove your makeup at night but it makes such a difference!

Lately, I have been using the Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter. It is perfect for my skin because it removes ALL of my makeup and is so gentle and soft. I find that it keeps my skin moisturized as well.

4. Healthy Diet: Whenever I am eating healthy my skin looks so much better! With Spring here, and Summer around the corner, there are tons of veggies and fruits in season! These foods are full of antioxidants that help keep your skin looking young and healthy.

5. Sleep: Sleep is the secret weapon to almost anything. When you have slept your whole mood and body looks and feels different! Don’t skip out on those much needed hours!

My Nightly Skincare Regime

Below are the products that I have been using the past couple of months!

blog

One aspect of my skin I have been trying to work on consistently is to keep it moisturized. This was a harsh winter but I found some great products that really worked to keep my skin from feeling dry and looking ‘flaky’.

Since buying some Origins products in February I have been hooked!!

These two are my go to products every night to keep my skin looking supple and bright!

I have tried many eye creams in the past and nothing has kept my dark under eye circles away like the GinZing Eye Cream! Name

Manicure/Pedicure Essentials

Manicure/Pedicure Essentials
The warm weather this weekend is a nice welcome compared to the frigid winter months we have been experiencing. It is finally sandal weather!! I am so excited! Even though I am ready my feet are not! Getting together everything I needed for an at home manicure / pedicure I came up with the ten essentials anyone would need. By using these tools you too will have ‘fresh’ hands and feet to show off in this beautiful weather!
1. Nail Polish Remover: A must at removing that old polish!
2. Pumice Stone/Nail Brush: I love this duo! A pumice stone is definitely needed to get all the dead skin off of your feet. With the nail brush attached as well it is great  to really clean under the nails.
3. Nail Clippers: Perfect for trimming down nails and toe nails.
4. Cuticle Nipper: The nipper is great to trim up any loose skin around the cuticle area.
5. Nail File: Shaping your nails is essential during a manicure!
6. Cream: During a manicure or pedicure there is always a need for cream to soften the hands and feet and even give a mini massage.
7. Nail Buffer: Nail buffers are great for giving your nails a high gloss shine.
8. Base Coat: Many people do not believe a base coat is needed but using a base coat allows the polish to stay on longer and protect the nail from yellowing if you are using a darker nail polish.
9. Top Coat: A top coat is always needed to add a high shine to your nails and keep them from chipping.
10. Nail Polish: An essential in any good manicure or pedicure is the nail polish! Lately, I have been loving Essie nail polish!

March Empties

unnamed (9)

I cannot believe that March has already ended!! It was a wonderful month with FIVE weekends!! During this month I went through a bunch of products I wanted to use up.

Body

unnamed (4)

Lately, I have been loving shower gels. For a long time I only used bar soap but that gets really boring after a while because it takes so long to use up the soap. With a shower gel I can use what I want and store it for future use if I get tired of the smell.

This month I finished two shower gels.

1. Pink Chiffon from Bath and Body Works: The Smell is so sweet and girly!

2.  Whoosh from Lush: I absolutely love this stuff!! The scent is like nothing else I have! I really like putting it in the freezer, because it doesn’t freeze, and then it is really cold and refreshing for when I shower.

I also finished up the Brazened Honey face mask from Lush. I really love this mask and know that I will re-purchase it in the future. If you would like to see the review I did on this mask you can find that here.

Face

unnamed (12)

The Body Shop has been really pulling me in lately with all of their great deals and products. This month I finished up one of their Vitamin E Sink-In Moisture Masks. Whenever my skin is feeling really dry I apply this before bed and wake up with refreshed, smooth skin. Even though this is a one use size I was able to get four uses out of it. A little bit goes a long way!

unnamed (8)

So, the next product I finished up is not really done yet…but it was time to throw it away because it was old and getting discolored. I use the Great Lash clear mascara for my eyebrows. The wand is great for shaping my brows and the product keeps my eyebrow hairs in place all day. For the price of less that three dollars it is always a staple and repurchase in my makeup collection.

unnamed (13)

Revlon has the BEST lip products!! This is my second tube of the Lip Butter in Creme Brulee that I have used up. It is the perfect everyday shade!

unnamed (14)

I had bought this eye makeup remover for traveling because it is small and has a screw on top. I really liked how non-greasy and easy it was to get my makeup off while using the product.  Multi-Purpose

unnamed

In the month of March I really fell in love with Coconut Oil!! It is truly an amazing product!

My Uses:
In a Lip Scrub
To Clean Makeup Brushes
Shave my Legs
As a Moisturizer
To Cook With
Remove Makeup

To find an all in one product like this that is GOOD for my skin and Organic as well has been awesome!!

What products did you use up in March?
