If you were to meet Paul’s Uncle Mac he would not make a huge impression on you, at first. He is quiet and stands in the background at most family occasions. Recently I have gotten to know and love him so much. He has a kind heart and is funnier than most! I always look forward to seeing him, along with all of Paul’s family, when we are in North Carolina!
When Paul and I were first starting out with our quest for furniture we had not quite worked up the courage to do a DIY project. We had a buffet table from my great grandmother that I could not part with but was not the right look Paul and I wanted for our first apartment. Paul and I wanted to paint it and get new hardware. We knew with the right amount of work it could look perfect! The problem was we had no idea how to get it to look like what we imagined.
Uncle Mac has his own workshop and was so generous to paint the piece for Paul and I when we expressed our concerns to him about the big project.
He put in an incredible amount of work into the piece and it now looks better than Paul and I could have ever imagined. Really, it is beautiful!
By doing such a great job he had no idea what he had gotten himself into! Hahah 😀
The next time Paul and I saw him we brought him two more pieces to work on. When we picked the colors for those two pieces we had no idea what our room colors or decor would be so we chose at random. They ended up matching the color scheme of our room perfectly!!
I am sure if we brought him another piece of furniture he would help us out again but lucky for him we actually like doing projects now.
Here are some ways to gain confidence if you are weary of DIY preojects:
1. Start out small.
2. Watch YouTube videos.
3. Ask questions to people who know what they are talking about. Don’t be shy! Go up to that Lowe’s or Home Depot associate and ask for help.
Is there DIY project you want to do and have been putting off?
